Why Intensive Training? What’s involved The course will be 95% in the car, teaching periods will be a maximum of 2½ hour sessions with a break of ½ hour between sessions. Over the course period you will drive approximately 750 miles and will take in town/rural and congestion environments. We will take you on simulated motorway exercises, leaving, joining and driving. Fact: 7 out of 10 fatal accidents occur on rural roads Pass Rate Although we cannot guarantee you will pass your test we can make sure you are a safe and competent driver. Driving is not a test it is a life skill, we teach the skill then you take the test. Fact: National pass rate is 45.65% intensive pass rate is approximately 80% Method Using the intensive method has many advantages, the skill of driving is reflex orientated most actions by a driver are automatic (instinctive 80% reactive 20%) longer periods of tuition, driving becomes a subconscious act. It is also easier to rectify any bad habits early. Fact: The armed forces and the Police use the intensive teaching method. Retention There is an improvement over the traditional hourly lessons in that what is learnt over a hour only 50% is retained for the next session. The pupil has to relearn 50% of the previous session before advancing. Safer Over the period of the course you will be taught to drive safely and will be covering most of the skills Pass Plus during your course. Time with hourly lessons it can take many months to reach a stage where the student will be ready to take the Practical Driving Test. One week will normally be enough to achieve the standard that is required to take the UK National Driving Test. This is very desirable for pupils who wish to pass their test with the least amount of disruption.
